Welcome!
North Devon Choral Society was founded in 1952, and is a thriving, friendly choir that performs at least three concerts a year with top class soloists and accompanists, and with a professional orchestra as often as possible. Have a look at the list on our Concert Archive to see the kind of music we sing.
Concerts are performed throughout North Devon, mainly in Torrington, Braunton and Barnstaple. We aim to use an orchestra at least once a year, and at Torrington Parish Church (St Michael and All Angels) we also have the benefit of their excellent Father Willis organ dating from 1864. Occasionally, we combine with Bude Choral Society and South Devon Choir to perform a joint concert in Barnstaple and Torbay.
John Hobbs has been our Music Director since 1992. You will find details of John Hobbs on our About Us page and we welcome Lorraine Homewood as our Rehearsal Pianist.
We number about 100 members and we are always pleased to welcome new members (please see above). Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings between 7.30 and 9.30pm. If you are interested, please see our Join Us page.
Our next concert:
Saturday, 9th December 2023 at The church of St Michael & All Angels, Great Torrington
Handel: Judas Maccabaeus
Conductor: John Hobbs
Soloists: Katie Wright
Rebecca Squire
Charne Rochford
Tim Mirfin
