Welcome!
North Devon Choral Society was founded in 1952 and is a thriving, friendly choir that performs at least three concerts a year, featuring top-class soloists, accompanists, and a professional orchestra whenever possible. Have a look at the list on our Concert Archive to see the kind of music we sing.
Concerts are performed throughout North Devon, mainly in Great Torrington, Braunton and Barnstaple. We aim to use an orchestra at least once a year, and at Torrington Parish Church (St Michael and All Angels), we also have the benefit of their excellent Father Willis organ, dating back to 1864.
Occasionally we join with South Devon Choir and with members of Bude Choral Society to perform joint concerts in Barnstaple and Torquay. John Hobbs has been our Music Director since 1992. You will find details of John Hobbs on our About Us page.
We number about 70 singers and we are always pleased to welcome new members (please see above). We rehearse at Christ Church, Bear Street, Barnstaple EX32 7BU on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
Please note: NDCS AGM will be held on Tuesday 20th October at 7.15pm at Bear St. Choir members only. Rehearsal to follow.
